Nineteenth Memory [Video/Action for Cianwood]

[It's been a while since you've seen this face and as usual, there's frown on her face. Not upset or anything, just mildly annoyed. It might have to do with the bunch of eggs that could be seen in the background.]

Look, I'll get straight to the point here. My pokemon were kind enough to leave me a present this morning and just like what I did with the last egg batch, I'm selling them. And because I'm such a kind person, I'll be willing to give a discount for the newcomers this month. You'd better not be lying to me.

[Oh, such an enthusiastic threat there, Misaki.]

[There was a look of realization on her face. It looks like she just remembered something that was not leaving the pokegear on.] Oh, my birthday's in a few days...I forgot about that.

I'll be turning....19, I believe. A year before I'm an actual adult.

[GOOD THING THERE IS REALLY NO SUCH THING AS TMI WITH TEMERAIRE. Also he still thinks people come from eggs. Everything comes from eggs, doesn't it? So he just nods, because that made perfect sense to him.]

Really? [He looks...mildly confused and a little impressed.] It takes a very long time for people to become adults.

Huh? [Oh alright, he wasn't an actual human being. He was a dragon, she forgot.] How old does it take for a dragon to be an adult?

..How old are you?

It depends on the breed, but I reached my full growth at six months.

[He pauses, doing some brief month-counting in his head.]

And I am over a year and a half old now.

...huh.

[Wow, she didn't expect him to be that young. Then again, most animals do age faster than humans.]

Does your race have a short lifespan?

[He shakes his head.]

No, dragons live for a very long time...several hundred years if we are lucky. That's what I have heard, at least.

But if we did not grow fast, then how would we take care of ourselves if we did not have captains?

Captians as in...caretakers? Owners?

Not owners. Laurence does not own me any more than I own him.

[He's very adamant about this, and were he still a dragon he would have lashed his tail for emphasis. And after knowing Temeraire for this long, Misaki has probably heard aaallll about how Laurence is brave and kind and wonderful and the very best of men.]

A captain is much like a partner and a very dear friend. And they are in charge of giving commands to our crews, and going into the cities to talk with people because dragons cannot.

[He tilts his head, suddenly remembering how this conversation started and considering something.] Misaki, what sort of gift would you like for your birthday? I have heard that people give gifts.

[Seriously surprised to be getting this, what's with the sudden gift giving??]

[Forgive him for being a little stunned but he's not exactly used to gifts out of no where. That and, well, he didn't exactly get the impression that Misaki likes him all that much -- especially not with the relentless Lesly teasing.]

[From her logic, if she's teasing you and she does consider you as a friend, it probably means she likes you. Its like a form of "tough love", she says.]
